Medical and Field Safety Training at Princess Elisabeth Antarctica
Safety always comes first in Antarctica.
Before heading out into the field, every team member and visiting scientist at Princess Elisabeth Antarctica undergoes mandatory medical and field training. This crucial preparation ensures that everyone knows how to respond effectively in case of an emergency far from the station.
During the training, participants learn how to stabilize and transport injured colleagues, perform first aid in harsh conditions, and coordinate a safe evacuation back to the station for medical care. The training also includes familiarization with the station’s medical facilities, including the newly equipped surgery room, where the station doctor demonstrates key emergency procedures.
These exercises are an essential part of life and work at Princess Elisabeth Antarctica — helping ensure that all expeditions are conducted safely and that the team is ready for any situation the Antarctic environment might present.
