A Delayed Arrival in Brussels

The last members of the BELARE 2007-2008 team arrived in Brussels around 13h30 today. There were orgignally meant to arrive around 8 in the morning. However, the bad weather caused their flight to be delayed, much to the dissapointment of the press and relatives waiting to greet them.

The press conference has been postponed to Tuesday the 11th of March at 9h45 AM and will be held in the International Polar Foundation's offices. Even though the station outer shell is now built and stands proudly on the Utsteinen ridge, there is still a lot of work to be done before next season. All systems and scientific equipment have to be built, properly calibrated before they are installed in the station during the 2008-2009 Antarctic season.

During Tuesday's press conference, Alain Hubert and Johan Berte will discuss the construction phase and highlight the most important moments of this outstanding achievement. The next steps of the project and the forthcoming first scientific expedition of next year will also be presented.
