Live From Antarctica: Tuesday December 16

The early return of the scientists gave us a few extra hands to help us do a number of things, including (among other things): moving containers, expanding the camp to prepare for the new arrivals, clear away snow (never ending!) and helping out in the kitchen.

François and Julien temporarily stopped doing woodwork and started doing some "terracing" for a while. They are now spending their day on the north side of the station, overseeing the digging of a hole into which a seismograph will be placed. Wrapped up in their polar gear with their hats and their ski masks on, they have an otherworldly aspect to them. In order to shield themselves from the wind, they take their breaks in front of the blade.
